Kaoru was feeling mellow. Not drunk but certainly not sober either. Happy, that was the word. He was beginning to shake off the tension that had accumulated during the hectic months of touring, recording and generally being in constant work mode.

Die was gratified to see the relaxation in Kaorus posture. He had been worried about him, Kaoru worked way too hard and Die had been eager to get him some much needed stress relief. So he had suggested a vacation, just a short break, just the two of them. Kaoru had agreed and Die had set things up.

Now they had a few short days of no work, warm weather and virtual anonymity. Die planned to make the most of it, he too had needed a break badly and besides, time with Kaoru was precious.

Kaoru had expected Die to go with their usual American venue for R and R, Los Angeles. He had been surprised by the choice of Las Vegas but it was working out well. The garish town was certainly fun and Kaoru could see why Die would enjoy it here. It was larger than life, kind of a theme park for adults who hadn't forgotten how to play. And that was Die all over.

At least, that was usually what he was like. During the tour Kaoru had occasionally caught him looking so sad it broke his heart. Melancholy seemed to have found his friend and he hated to see that. If anyone deserved to be happy, it was Die. This vacation seemed to bring the sparkle back to Dies smile and that made Kaoru happier than he could say. Literally.

They had been friends for a long time, close as brothers in many ways. But some things Kaoru couldn't share with him, and how much Dies moods affected him was one of them. It was one thing to care about your friends and another to care about someone the way he cared about Die. It was too much, too deep and he didn't want to alienate the other man. So he had resigned himself to the role of friend and at times like this it was almost enough.

Die was looking at his watch every few minutes and Kaoru was getting suspicious. It was rather obvious even to his mildly intoxicated mind that Die was up to something. He tried not to show his awareness of Dies nervous actions and continued sipping his drink while glancing absently around the dark bar.

Die rose suddenly, surprising his companion. A man in chauffeurs uniform had entered the bar and seemed to be looking for someone. Die raised a hand and the man approached. Kaoru gave Die a questioning look and Die just smiled broadly at him.

"Don't ask, it's a surprise. Just come with me."

The limo was the height of conspicuous consumption. Fully stocked bar, cushy seats and plenty of legroom. The two men lounged in back as the driver sped them smoothly through the night. No matter how Kaoru teased he couldn't get any information about their destination from the red head. Die had no intention of spoiling his surprise and Kaoru finally gave up and just enjoyed the ride.

The night was clear and the limo had a large moon roof that showed the stars overhead in all their silent beauty. Die leaned back to stargaze and Kaoru did the same, both men quietly content in the closeness between them. Kaoru yawned and Die smiled at him.

"It's going to be a long ride, why don't you get some sleep. I'll wake you before we get there."

"You don't mind?"

"No, not at all."

Kaoru closed his eyes and let himself drift off and Die allowed himself to move just a little closer to him. His side touched Kaorus and Kaoru stirred a little and then let his head drop onto Dies shoulder. Die closed his eyes, happier than he had been in a long time.

------------------

Die shook Kaoru gently be the shoulder.

"We're here."

"Where?"

"I'll show you. Come on."

They climbed out of the car and Kaoru took a minute to look around. They were in front of large, rambling structure that appeared to be the only thing around for miles. He scanned the front of the building and turned to Die.

"Die, what is this place?"

"What does it look like?"

It looked like a fairly normal house, if you overlooked the bright neon sign blinking over the front porch.

"I'm afraid to guess."

Die laughed and ran a hand through Kaorus' hair in a mocking attempt at straightening it up a bit. Kaoru stepped back and gave him a glare. Die shrugged.

"Just trying to help neaten you up a little, don't want you to scare the ladies."

"The ladies?"

Kaorus suspicions gelled and he felt his heart drop. Die grinned and nodded happily.

"Yes, the ladies. Come on."

He attempted to steer Kaoru up the front steps but his friend appeared to be rooted to ground.

"Die, is this..."

Die nodded and leaned closer with a leer.

"You guessed! I called ahead, just come on in. Everything is already taken care of. A whole night, on me!"

Kaoru gaped at him, totally at a loss for words. He blinked, adjusted his clothes to some semblance of order and walked slowly up the broad steps.

* A whorehouse? Die brought me to a whorehouse? *

Kaoru had the distinct feeling of impending doom. He hesitated at the top step.

"Die, I don't need,...I mean, I don't have to pay for..."

Die shook his head emphatically.

"Of course not! With your copious free time and out going nature I figure you got laid sometime in 2000 or was that 1999?"

Kaoru faked a swing at him, which Die dodged.

"Besides, I heard this was a good place. And it will be fun, don't be a spoilsport. If you want I can talk you through it, the procedure will probably come back to you sooner or later."

This led to another swing and they rough housed a bit on the porch, all the while Kaorus mind was running in panicked circles.

*Oh, god! How am I going to get through this? *

He had realized a long time ago that not only did he prefer male company in intimate circumstances but also given his choice, he would prefer Dies' company. Not that he had a prayer of that; Die had never indicated any interest in men. And Kaoru had hesitated to mention the subject for fear of Dies reaction. The subterfuge had become a habit and he didn't think tonight was the time to end it.

* It's not like I can't manage, I have in the past. And it's just one night. I'll just let my mind dwell on other things.*

Like Dies' words. 'A night on me', words to fuel any number of fantasies.

-----------------

The men entered the house and paused to let their eyes adjust to the low light. To Kaorus anxious eyes there appeared to be women everywhere-women of all shapes, sizes and ethnic groups. Die was looking around with the face of a child in a candy store.

Kaoru nudged Die with an elbow to drag his attention away from the scenery.

"Do we just pick one or what?"

"All taken care of, just be patient."

A young woman approached and nodded politely to them.

"You are the Japanese business men who called earlier?" Her voice held a slight tinge of doubt; they didn't look like any businessmen she had ever seen.

Die grinned at her.

"That would be us."

"Please follow me."

She turned and began climbing a wide, sweeping stairway and they followed. She led them to a large, comfortable looking suite and left.

As soon as she was out of the room Kaoru turned to Die for guidance. Die was walking around, examining the furnishings. When he got to the wet bar he let out a little cry of triumph and began pouring them both drinks. When Kaoru tried to decline Die pouted and Kaoru found himself ingesting yet more alcohol.

Die sat down and Kaoru joined him.

"Die, what do we do now?"

"Drink, relax, maybe a shower. The woman will be along shortly."

"Women?"

"No, woman."

Kaoru eyed his companion over the rim of his glass.

"So, I'll just find a good book or something while you...."

Die laughed.

"No!"

"You'll just amuse yourself while I..?"

"Wrong again!"

Kaoru felt himself blushing and downed his drink quickly and handed his glass to Die for a refill.

"You want to explain then? Cause I'm a bit lost."

Die handed Kaoru a fresh drink and sat back down.

"We're friends right? Best friends?"

Kaoru nodded.

"So, I thought we could share."

"Excuse me?"

"Share, you know? It'll be like, like a bonding experience. Right?"

Kaoru had the urge to scream "Wrong!" but held it down.

"Are you serious?"

Die nodded happily.

Before Kaoru could come up with any way to bow out of this debacle the door opened and a young lady entered. She glanced at them and smiled in a friendly manner.

"If you would like to bathe the room is through here." She gestured and Die rose before Kaoru could get a word in. The woman continued:

" The attendants will be in shortly, please relax and enjoy yourselves. The attendants will call me when you are ready."

She turned to go and Kaoru rose to follow Die into the next room.

"Die, wait up! Attendants? What attendants? And why?"

"To attend to us. You know."

"No, I don't."

"Well, you'll see."

The next room was rather like a mini spa; it was divided into several areas, a shower room, a hot tub, a sauna and a room with several padded tables being the only furnishings. There were several large towels hung on racks and robes in various colors and sizes along side of them.

Die headed to the bench beside the shower area and began stripping. Kaoru followed his lead, if only distract himself from staring at Die. He managed to keep it to the occasional fleeting glance, scant glimpses of smooth back, the muscles sliding under satiny skin as he pulled his shirt over his head.

Kaoru looked away, fumbling in agitation with the buttons on his shirt. He finally got the thing loose and concentrated on getting the rest of his clothes off. By the time he was done Die was tapping a bare foot in mock annoyance.

"Ready?"

"For what?"

Die laughed.

"A quick shower, then some steam, and then maybe the hot tub. A massage after. Sound good?"

"Sounds great." Actually it did sound great. If he could just forget what came afterwards and avoid getting caught looking at Die. Maybe a cold shower would help.

They were quiet as they rinsed off and then Die handed Kaoru a towel and strolled towards the sauna, tying his own towel around his waist. Kaoru followed although he was having a lot of trouble tying the knot while keeping his eyes on Dies behind. The towel was way too short and tight to leave much to the imagination.

They entered the small room and Die flopped down onto his back on one of the wide wooden steps that lined the edge of the room. Kaoru climbed up to the next level and lay down more hesitantly. No sooner was he more or less comfortable than a woman entered and threw a dipper of water onto the heating platform and nipped out again. Steam billowed upwards and it became hard to see.

He felt the step give a little and realized that Die had moved to sit at his feet. He opened his eyes a tiny bit and sure enough, Die was leaning back against the wall, skin shining with moisture. Kaoru closed his eyes again and tried to casually rearrange his legs to prevent embarrassing revelations.

He vowed to himself that he would keep his eyes strictly shut but after a few moments he felt a gentle touch on one sole. He ignored this valiantly but when Die began to play with his toes he couldn't help looking up. Die smirked at him before releasing his baby toe and musing aloud:

"I wonder if I should get a tattoo?"

Kaoru answered in spite of himself.

"No!"

Die looked startled at his vehemence.

"Why? They look good on Kyo."

"That's Kyo."

"Wouldn't look good on me?"

Kaoru shook his head.

"You look fine the way you are."

Die leaned back and let his headrest against the wall.

"I thought you liked Kyos tats."

"I do, on him. It's different."

"Oh. He does have enough decoration for all of us, I guess."

"More than enough. He may run out of skin before he runs out of ideas."

Die chuckled.

"He does go a bit over the top. At least he seems to have slowed down on the piercing. I'm still nervous being in the same urinal with him. I keep thinking any day now I'll glance over and there'll be spikes or something...."

Kaoru burst out laughing.

"He did think about it. He told me so."

Die winced.

"Better him than me. What changed his mind?"

"I told him about some guy that had it done and suffered nerve damage. After that, all it was good for was decoration. Kyo never mentioned it again."

"That would do it! He'd die before he'd risk that!"

Kaoru smiled. "Who wouldn't? Some things you don't sacrifice, even for art,"

Die nodded emphatically.

Kaoru settled back down and was just getting used to the heat when the door opened, spilling cool air into the room. Die tapped his foot and he sat up. Another girl stood in the doorway. When she realized she had their attention she spoke.

"You really shouldn't stay in here much longer. Would you mind following me?"

Die rose right away and Kaoru followed more slowly. The air outside the sauna felt wonderful on his overheated skin.

The girl led them back to the shower room and they stepped under the warm water. The girl seemed in no hurry to go and in fact began to wash Dies back while Die washed his hair. Kaoru turned to look fixedly at the wall to avoid seeing this but he couldn't block out the sound of Die bantering with the girl, making her giggle and generally having a wonderful time. Kaoru raced through his shower to forestall the girl offering him any help. He managed to get done in record time and was clean and dry by the time Die was finished. Kaoru was reaching for his clothes when Die stepped beside him and touched his shoulder.

"Not yet! Come on. You'll like this."

Kaoru had his doubts.

Die led Kaoru over to the massage tables and they lay down. In moments two women arrived and began working the kinks and tension from the mens' bodies. Kaoru was just beginning to feel pleasantly boneless when Die began to get vocal. It began as a series of gentle sighs and moved swiftly to ooohs and ahhhs and assorted other sounds of pleasure.

Kaoru ground his teeth. He could feel every muscle in his body knotting all over again. Die seemed bent on letting the masseuse know just how wonderful every touch felt and then he started to murmur helpful directions like:

"Mmmm, yeah, like that" and "Right there, feels sooooo goooood". It took a lot of will power not to lunge the short distance between the tables and shove the masseuse out of the way. Kaoru entertained a brief but vivid fantasy of Die moaning such things to him and found himself clutching the edges of the table with white knuckles. He desperately tried to get Die enmeshed in a conversation.

"Die!"

"Hmmm?"

"Umm, how are things?"

"What things?"

"Just things. Sometimes lately you seem kind of down."

"Oh. I guess I get a little worried sometimes. And kind of, I don't know. Maybe overwhelmed. A little."

"Worried about what?"

Die shifted a bit and turned his head toward Kaoru.

"Remember that promotional display in some of the record shops? The life size cardboard images of us?"

"Yeah. I remember."

"Well, sometimes it feels like the images are always there now, in front of us. And we're moving them around like big paper dolls. And sometimes it feels as if they're getting bigger and we're getting smaller. I feel like someday we'll shrink to nothing and only the dolls will be left."

"I won't let that happen." Kaoru put all the conviction he had into the words.

"I keep telling myself that. But there's so much pressure on you, on all of us but you take most of it. I mean, it's great to be so successful but we need time to just be ourselves. And I miss the days when we had time to unwind and just be together. Just being normal people enjoying a movie or something. I miss doing things like that with you. I guess I miss you."

Kaoru found he could reach as far as Dies shoulder and he rested his hand there.

"I miss you too. It does seem that it's all work when we're together. This is the first fun time we've had for too long. Maybe we could make a deal, that at least once every few weeks, whatever is going on, we'll get together and just relax. Rent a movie or have a drink. Just be together. I'd like that."

Die smiled at him

"Me too."

Kaoru reluctantly slid his hand away from Die and Die surprised him by catching it in his own.

"Thanks."

Kaoru linked his fingers around Dies and held on for a long moment.

"No, thank you"

Kaoru let his eyes close and gave himself up to the soothing ministrations of the masseuse. He didn't quite fall asleep but he wasn't totally awake either, he was floating in that peaceful, in between state when Die shook his shoulder gently.

"Kaoru, come on, I'm not about to carry you."

Kaoru stretched a little and sighed.

"Okay,"

He forced himself to sit up and Die eased one arm around him and helped him slide off the table and more or less into an upright position. He leaned a little against Die and was gratified when Die didn't move away.

Die swung them about into the correct direction to walk back to the room and Kaoru let himself be drawn along, eyes still half closed. They got to the room and Die lowered Kaoru onto the bed, shaking his head a little at his leaders state of drowsy acquiescence. Kaoru vaguely took note of Die climbing into bed next to him and really tried to wake up but it seemed like so much work and he felt so sleepy. The bed was comfortable and he liked the feeling of Dies warmth next to him. He turned onto his side and with a murmured "good night" fell fast sleep.

Die watched him for a few moments and then curled up around the curve of Kaorus back. He let one arm drape over the other mans waist and smiled when he felt Kaoru take that hand in his own and tug on it gently, pulling Die closer. This wasn't exactly the outcome he had planned but it would do for now. He tilted his head and dropped a kiss on Kaorus shoulder before he joined him in sleep.

The woman opened the door quietly, peeked in and nodding in satisfaction, withdrew again, closing the door behind her.

-------------------------

Die wasn't sure how long he slept, but he was achingly aware of what had woken him up.

Kaoru was moving restlessly against him and some parts of him had woken up well before others.

He held his breath to listen to Kaorus, the regular rhythm assured him that Kaoru was still asleep.

He ran a light hand down Kaorus arm, fingertips barely brushing his skin.

When this failed to wake him Die moved his attention to Kaorus chest, stroking over the taut muscles with the same stealthy lightness.

Kaoru slumbered on.

Emboldened, Die let his fingers drift downwards, trailing gently over Kaorus sex.

Kaoru pressed into his hand with a sigh and Die froze, willing his band mate to keep sleeping.

Apparently the gods were on his side tonight, Kaoru murmured something unfathomable and pressed his hips farther forward but he didn't wake up. Giving a silent cheer Die tightened his fingers in slow increments, delighting in the feeling of the warm flesh swelling to fill his grip.

He wished he could see, touch was wonderful but he had waited so long for this that he wanted every sense involved. Touch, sight, taste…….

Kaoru struggled against waking; this dream was too wonderful to lose without a fight.

Warm lips pressing against his skin, the wet slickness of a tongue exploring his neck as one hand teasingly held his hardening length, squeezing him gently, rhythmically.

He arched into the touch, and then pressed back against the warmth behind him, drawing a muffled groan from the source of the heat.

In a very familiar voice.

Kaoru blinked, nudged back again for conformation.

"Die?"

The hands on him stopped moving, the heartbeat thudding against his back speeded up.

"Kaoru? You awake?"

Kaoru paused, unsure of just how to deal with the wistful tone of the question.

He found himself shaking his head slowly.

"No."

He felt Dies lips curve into a smile against the nape of his neck.

"Oh, good. I wouldn't want to shock you out of such a sound sleep."

"You won't, I'm sleeping, dreaming the best dream. Just don't stop and make me wake up. I don't ever want to wake up."

"Then don't, just lie back and dream with me."

Die moved away for a moment, shoving the covers down to expose Kaoru in the soft moonlight that fell across the bed.

Kaoru felt the sudden chill and shivered a little until large, warm hands pressed on his shoulder, pushing him from his side to his back.

He followed the silent command and was rewarded with a gentle kiss and then with warm caresses, his whole body slowly covered by teasing touches that turned eventually into more demanding contact.

He responded with the total lack of self-consciousness that a dream can induce, arching into each touch, moaning and sighing in his pleasure and his need.

Die slid down to hover for a moment over Kaorus swollen sex, his tongue gently probing the damp slit and then lapping gently around the head.

Kaoru let his fingers tangle in Dies hair, pulling softly, urging him on.

Die yielded to the unvoiced plea, taking as much as he could into his mouth, sliding down and then back up slowly, enjoying the pleasure in Kaorus voice.

The pleasure grew until there was no place left for it to go and Kaorus fingers tightened, clenched a long moment and then relaxed, falling limply to Dies shoulders as he floated in to dazed afterglow.

Die moved from between Kaorus legs, swallowing thickly before wiping damp lips with his hand. It hadn't been bad, not bad at all really, and he loved seeing the look of sleepy bliss on Kaorus face and knowing that he was responsible for it being there.

He settled against Kaorus side, one arm over his lovers' chest, one long leg threaded between Kaorus. When Kaoru stirred he stroked his hair gently.

Kaoru turned toward him blindly, pressing his thigh against Dies hardness and smiling at the taller mans reaction.

He worked his way down Dies body, one kiss at a time until he reached his goal and not wanting to make his panting partner wait any longer, took him deep into his mouth, kneading gently in the sensitive area behind his balls.

Die cried out, part shock and part delight, and came, shuddering and bucking, his slender body almost beyond Kaorus control.

When he settled he pulled Kaoru up to rest against his chest, holding him loosely.

Kaoru finally opened his eyes and caught Dies gaze, warm and loving.

He couldn't find the words he wanted, no phrase seemed quite right. He settled on one that held as much of the truth as any words can.

"I love you."

"I love you too. Can we keep dreaming together?" "As long as you want to."

Die was almost asleep when he felt Kaoru stiffen beside him.

"Die, what happened to the girl? I hope she isn't upset or anything."

"Oh, I doubt it. I did specify that we were mainly interested in the room, unless you requested otherwise."

"What?"

"I wasn't quite sure how you'd take it, I thought this way if you didn't want me the way I wanted you, well, at least we'd be in bed together, sharing. I thought that might be as close as I could ever get. And it might answer some questions, if nothing else."

"What questions?"

Die shifted a little uncomfortably.

"Well, I thought you might prefer men but I couldn't be sure. So I thought this might make it clear, one way or the other."

"You could have asked. I would have told you."

"I couldn't be sure how you'd take the question. And besides, it wouldn't do me much good to know you liked men if you didn't like me that way. I was afraid, plain and simple. So I thought this might force things into the open. And either way it played out, I'd get laid so it wouldn't be a total loss."

Kaoru could hear the teasing tone in the last statement and laughed, getting a quick elbow jab into Dies ribs at the same time. Not hard, and it made Die join in the laughter.

"You're a sick and twisted man Die, you know that?"

"Think so?" His voice sounded suspiciously proud.

"Know so. Don't ever change."

The chuckles slid into soft breathing and they held each other all night long.
